Hi everyone - I've really enjoyed lurking the board - hoping to contribute as soon as I get access... Long time fan, but stopped reading the book around the clone wars. Picked up a few old, recent issues for the first time (Sins Past) and was really disappointed in the quality of the writing...a friend sent me the entire run to read...looking forward to getting caught up... I'm looking forward to Secret Wars, if they do it right, I'll jump back in .. I grew up with ASM, and like many, I scoured my local shop for back issues to read, it was really something special. From what I read (up to about 500), I'm a bit disappointed. I think the series peaked in the early 300's - it got kind of rudderless, repetitive and a little silly. The stories through the 80's were magic. Nice to meet everyone, and hope to see ya'll in the threads

Hi Phil, I hope you don't mind if I address you by name, but this is after all, a thread about the people.
So, you endured up until the second Clone Saga? That's some rough reading. I stopped a little before what you can see, I covered in the Rating Spider-Man 1962-1989 thread. I came back for JMS, and left again because of OMD. I started getting up to date two years ago, a task I completed when I started this forum.
You liked the 80's? That makes, at least, two of us. I started reading Spider-Man, at the end of the 70's, but it was Stern who really hooked me up for good.

I've done a lot of editing for writing in my life, and tend to think of things on a logical track...I'm not an obsessive type when it comes to comics, but I do have a knack for detail
I don't mind being addressed as Phil - Let's see; I work in the corporate world, and help my nephew run a small website. I can build or fix pretty much anything, but picked up woodworking as a hobby. I'm a bit of giant (6' 10") and am pretty laid back. Work with rescue dogs...got 3 of my own. Ended up with a punk rock girl; who loves all this stuff - especially Dr. Who. We are in California
The clone story was just poorly executed; the idea was good - the problem was a lot of those books in the 90's took one small story, spread it across all their books, and dragged it out until you wanted to scream. Look at knightfall as an example.
Spiderfan62 - you too

That would be 208 cm, for us europeans, quite tall indeed.
During the 90's, I was down to just a couple of titles, at some point. The general atmosphere in comic-books was just unbreathable. Grim and gritty stories, sharp-edged drawings and lots of multiple variant covers, issues one, cross-overs… they almost drove all readers out of the hobby.

Well tomorrow I'll be getting married and then heading of to Hawaii for a 2-week honeymoon. So I thought I'd make this last post as a free man.
See you in two weeks guys. Try not to cry too much while I'm away LOL.

So, you didn't heed my advice. Well the dice is cast, then. If you get "Lost", try to do so as a couple, at least.

Aloha! We're on our way back home from Hawaii LOL. And NO we didn't get lost we had a good time in Hawaii, wouldn't complain about going back anyway and we got to go visit her Aunties House as well which was a nice little moment for Leanne since she hasn't been there since she was a child.

Nope. It was a great place to be, we really enjoyed ourselves in our Hotel and the places we went to while we were there.
