Getting ahead, of the events that are still underway in Secret Wars, Marvel has already launched this week, their first wave of ANAD titles. Spider-Man is among the heroes doing the spearheading, of course.
I'm going to skip whatever might still get answered, but hasn't (yet) because of spoiling concerns, and focus on the new scenario.
Even before hitting the stands, there's been a lot of talk about this comic, and among the things said, I'm going to pick the comparison that's been made with SpOck. While the character's current financial success, has its roots on the plans set in motion by Dr. Otto Octavius, and admitting that the greater scale of operations, resemble more those of Superior Spider-Man than anything else, let's not forget the Big Time storyline. It's no coincidence, that most of the characters introduced there resurface now, for the first issue of this new era. There's been a clear direction for the character, from the moment that BND was abandoned, and Slott has been the main architect. It didn't immediately grow on the readers, but since Dying Wish, the title has been more popular than ever before, in the last 20 years. After the 90's bubble burst, only Straczynski has been able to compare, in raw numbers.
Some of us older readers may not be kosher, with this new "poor man Tony Stark" status quo, but looking at sales, it's here to stay.

I have no problem with them bringing back Doc Ock (as hinted at the end of the first issue) as long as he doesn't get to be pretend Spider-Man again I'd drop it like a ton of bricks if that happened I've already lost a large amount of faith in Slott as a writer as it is.

I'd be surprised if he went down that alley. I'm convinced he intended Superior to be his legacy, but since that's been denied to him, I'm guessing he at least wants to cash in whatever reward he can, from Doc Ock's development as a character.
As for Slott as a writer, what did you think about the ad on page one, where Peter is portrayed together with Spider-Man, considering the conversation with Doc Strange, in ASM #673?

There's one thing I don't understand about the infamous iWatch, why did they wait for Spider-Man to show up, before sending the encrypted data?

The ad on page was fine to me personally I thought it was a sensible way to do it as far as keeping his identity a secret so I was fine with that part of the issue. Still shake my head at the whole Spider-Mobile thing though, though I did enjoy the banter between him and Mockingbird.

Well, mystic spells are strange that way, but if I were to follow Dr. Stephen's advice, I'd tread carefully. Linking your image to that of Spider-Man, is very close for comfort, to his public appearance during Spider-Island. We all know how that ended,

Issue 3. So we have another Nicholas Fury in earth-616, who looks exactly the same as the one from the Ultimate Universe, and he's the son of the old one? So Harry's back, even though he was changing identities and "on the run". Slott's is adding to the queue of things yet-to-be-explained. So Peter's the best boss you could hope for, that's the third employee we see ignoring, sabotaging or mocking him, in the span of a few weeks. So Osborn goes to the trouble, of undergoing plastic surgery to change his face, and yet he goes by name.

Issue 5 is out, but I don't know when/if I'll be reading it. The four initial issues of this latest relaunch, have left me rather uninterested, about the title's future, and it's unlikely I'll revisit it, unless Slott decides to pick over Dr. Octopus' story, where he left it. I think it's safe to say at this point, that Peter is pretty much a lost cause, as long as Dan remains as the leading Spider-Man writer. He's managed to make disappear or throw off-kilter, every stablished ASM character, Peter included.

Yeah I'm ready for a new writer for Amazing at this point but it appears we're stuck with him for at least another year.

Well, I will be since it's Peter. Having said that I won't be getting Deadpool/Spider-Man. I am getting the Avengers book he's in though. Also, it'd be nice if Peter said ''With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility'' just once under Slott's run LOL.
And no, issue 700 doesn't count because Doc Ock finished the line for him.

And no, issue 700 doesn't count because Doc Ock finished the line for him. What do you mean? Basically as Peter laid there ''dying'' in Doc Ock's body Peter started to say ''Great Power''...But then Doc Ock finished it for him as he ''died''. I'd have thought you'd read that issue?

Yes, of course I've read it, but I thought you were being sarcastic, about Slott not using the cliché (I'd need to check, but I'm sure he does). Assuming that your initial remark was sarcastic, the reference to ASM #700, made no sense to me.

I wasn't really being sarcastic. I generally can't remember him ever saying that cliché when Slott has written him.
Speaking of the current ASM book though I am now up-to-date LOL.
