When Dan Slott leaves the Amazing Spider-Man book, who would you like to see take over?

I was going to say JMS, but the thing is, he hasn't written much Spidey in a long time, and he didn't exactly leave a very nice "legacy". Stern is more involved in the Spider-Man titles, but has been off his game since he took the reins of Superman. Bendis hasn't proved himself to be a writer for Peter, at least not with the character involved in group dynamics, maybe he could do a good job working on him as a separate character.

I'd have voted for Bendis but than I thought ''no, he's written Spidey for years give someone else a chance'' so I plumped for Christos Gage as I like the man's work. Really enjoying his Buffy the Vampire Slayer run at the moment.

IMO, Bendis does a great job on Ultimate. I'm enjoying Miles as Spider-Man as well it's one of my favourite books right now.

Gage has written Avengers Academy and X-Men Legacy that I liked a lot from Marvel. If you want to include Dark Horse than he also did Season 9 of Angel and Faith and he is currently doing season 10 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
He also did the Superior Spider-Man tie-in to Age of Ultron and while that wasn't my favourite issue that was mainly because he was writing Doc Ock instead of Peter.
Anyway, I like him personally and I'd like to see him given a chance on a big Marvel book like Spider-Man. If it can't be Gage I'll have Christopher Yost instead as I really enjoyed Scarlet Spider and I am enjoying New Warriors.

Looking at the list of titles, he would certainly benefit for a break in one of the main titles. And no, the Superior Spider-Man tie-in to Age of Ultron wasn't exactly my favorite issue either.

Yeah, as you might have noticed I'm a bit of a Gage fan lol, I hope he gets a big break myself but I guess we'll just have to wait and see, knowing the way Marvel operates right now they'll most likely give Amazing Spider-Man to whoever their next big writer is.

Slott's the best they have right now? Oh, my.

Well, that's what Marvel thinks anyway, as far as writing Spider-Man is concerned. I'm still convinced that Superior Spider-Man was a rushed idea so he could say ''Look look! I've changed the book enough so that it can be part of Marvel NOW! Please keep me on it!''
Personally, I think he's had his moments as a writer with some promising ideas and some fun stories, not including Superior of course, but his Peter has never quite felt like Peter to me for some reason.
As....''weird'' as some of the stuff JMS did it always felt like Peter to me personally speaking, I know his run was not universally appreciated but I liked it for the most part.

That's called characterization. Something Slott doesn't excel at.

Yeah, it's definitely not his strong point I agree.

I don't personally like Slott's Spider-Man and the characterization is one of the issues.

I don't personally like Slott's Spider-Man and the characterization is one of the issues. Look at the bright side, he's been onboard longer than most Spider-Man writers, which means his rein must be at an end. On the other hand, the title of the thread points in the right direction, who's going to replace him? Sometimes is better the devil you know..
