I read recently, that a Homepage might help with google search results. Given the fact, that it was already in my plans to do one, I thought it better to go ahead, before the Googlebot indexes the forum.
At the bottom, you'll see both the most recently active threads, as well as the last post on the forum, for direct access. By clicking on the thread name, be it from either of this two zones, or the highlighted one, you will go to the first post of that thread. There's also a summary of the forum stats.
At the top, you can find the usual navigation tools. The way to get to the main Forum page, is by clicking on "Forum", first button at the top, starting from the left.
The zones will remain unchanged, all of them, the only thing that will change is the content. The "Highlighted" zone will have manually selected content cycling, while the others will be updated automatically. The banner and navigation tools, are there to stay.
I think that about covers the functionality of the frontage, which main purpose is giving visibility to select posts and, trough that, to the Forum as a whole. I designed it to be as simple as possible, selecting to be displayed here, only the information I thought might be useful, to both guests and members.
Edit: I deleted the "Home" button at the left top corner. I find it redundant, the shortcuts "Spider-Man Message Boards", in the banner and the navigation menu, both already point to the Homepage. I also deleted the "Help" button, because it pointed to somewhere outside the forum, breaking the look's harmony.
