I don't know if any of you guys have seen the new Spider-Man movie, or watched or read spoilers and leaks. But I wanted to talk about plot holes and missed opportunities:The movie takes five villains and the Peter Parkers from the last two series after Doctor Strange and MCU Peter botch a spell to make the world forget his secret ID. Strange stops it but those characters get in. That takes us to the plot holes. One of the characters did not know Peter Parker was Spider-Man. And what are the odds that they went through but not Dunst MJ, Stone Gwen, Captain Stacy, Raimiverse Venom, Franco Harry, DeHaan Harry, the burglar, the wrestling promoter who didn't pay Peter on a trivial detail, the kid Garfield saves from the car, and the train full of people who saw Maguire's face and promised not to tell anyone and protected him from Ock. Also conflict arises when MCU Peter fights Strange when he learns that some of them are fated to die if they get sent back and he wants to restore their sanity and reverse their mutations. He succeeds with Ock but Norman's Goblin personality takes over and he kills Aunt Tomei. MCU Peter feels like giving up and that it isn't his problem because his whole world has been taken from him but the other Peters talk him into continuing with his plan to help the villains. And they all do so and succeed. But Norman is last and MCU Peter beats him to a pulp and is about to kill him. But Tobey stops him and then gets stabbed in the back. But he lives and MCU Peter injects Norman with the serum that restores his sanity and fills him with horror at his actions. And they are sent back and Strange does the spell that makes the MCU forget who Peter is. So Peter has nobody and makes his own suit which resembles the classic JR. But back to the plot holes. If those villains are placed back where they came from, how does that not change the future in each universe? Unless it splits the timeline or they were always from a slightly different timeline. And missed opportunities. I really wish that this could have somehow brought back Gwen Stacy. There is no reason why she could not have gone through via the spell and Strange finds some kind of a loophole to send her back with Webbverse Peter. He is still very clearly destroyed at what had happened in the movie. And she never should have been killed off in the movies or the comics. And heck they could do that with Franco Harry too. But I know it was really MCU Spider-Man's story, so they couldn't do too much with the others. Still I wish that they had or shown Tobey go back to the Raimiverse so we could see the better version of JJJ and May and Mary Jane too I guess. It is just such a waster because Garfield is as good as ever as Peter. And I would love to have more movies with him but not having Gwen there with him ruins it. I always thought he was the better Peter than Tobey Maguire even though Tobey had the better movies, villains, and supporting actors. And I don't know if it's really a plot hole but I don't know if the spell affected dead people from the MCU. Because if it did then Tony, Natasha, and Thanos could have returned. And also it was weird that Norman was correcting people to call him Doctor Osborn. And Tobey called him that too prior to meeting him again. Because he was a doctor in the Raimi movies and Storm and the general referred to him as such but much more peopled Peter said Mister Osborn and he never corrected anyone. Alright. The end.
At some point, Doc Strange mentions that he blocked almost everyone from coming tho their reality, and that only a few got through. As for some knowing his secret ID, even though we didn't see that in the other movies, that's because they're not from just after the movies ended. The characters, like the actors, are older. Things have happened, like when Garfield talks about getting onto a rage phase.
I do think Strange's actions will do be shown to have messed with the continuum, which is what the teaser at the end is hinting at.
We all would've liked to see Gwen/Stone, but either they didn't want to spend more, or the actress wasn't interested, maybe there's something about that, on the Internet?
Agreed on Garfield, but not a fan of Raimi. Good casts, of course, but as a director he never clicked for me.
As for bringing over people (dead or alive) who knew Peter as SM, whether is from inside their own universe or others... well, that's the thing with magic, you don't even need to pull a Deux Ex Machina out of your sleeve, just say that's how it works. Never liked magic in superhero comics.
