I had some time in my hands and decided, to make a graph, based on monthly sales data from Comichron. The titles included are Amazing Spider-Man (obviously) Superior Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows. The last one is a dubious choice, but it was the main Spider-Man title, until the post- Secret Wars relaunch took place. Sales data stretches back twenty years, to September 1996. At the time, Diamond only gave an estimation on preordered comics. After February 2003, they report the number of copies shipped to retailers. This figure, still doesn't reflect international or digital sales, newsstands, bookstores, subscriptions or copies shipped outside the calendar month (for example, ASM #583 topped the list for two consecutive months). Actual sales could even double, what Diamond distributes in the USA, but is the best indicative we have, of how well a comic is selling. This discrepancy, between data and actual sales, can be corroborated by looking at annual sales, where "Total PAID circulation" is always higher. Coloured bars indicate the start of the Straczynski run, Brand New Day, Superior Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man V2. The horizontal grid, represents 20 thousand units, with a ceiling around 150,000.
