There was in the 70's, a series named Spidey Super Stories. The one being launched now, has copied the logo, but other than that, it has little to do with the old title. Then, we had a comic aimed at children, featuring Spider-Man in a different reality (Earth-57780). Now, we have a young Peter living new "in-continuity" adventures. That's at least the premise, much in the spirit of Untold Tales Of Spider-Man, but after reading the first issue, there's a big difference: no effort is done to maintain coherence with past history. In not talking just about the advances in technology, that's a problem of Marvel time which was already present in UToSM, only aggravated by the 20 years that have elapsed, since that comic saw the light of day. No, it's worse than that, we have college friends being introduced in high school (Gwen, Harry); some characters are retroactively introduced, when they were initially presented as completely new characters (Sajani at least, arguably the White Rabbit too). A total mess.

I've caught up to Spidey now. I've now read all 11 issues And IMO it's been mostly fun although the art can sometimes leave a lot to be desired but for the most part it doesn't affect my enjoyment for the story. My personal highlights so far have been the team-up with Black Panther - simply because when T'Challa started trying to make these speeches Peter swings off and T'Challa is left standing there, it just made me LOL. And the Captain America issue was fun, a lot of goofiness in it I felt but that was part of the fun for me with the best bit being where Cap goes into JJJ's office and the last page is where JJJ has his moustache missing, that was a cool scene IMO. Overall I'd say I'd give the run a 7.4 out of 10, which is the average score that I've been giving each individual comic. Looking forward to reading issue 12 on Wednesday, especially now that I'm finally beginning to catch-up on my comics. Also, Ozy. If you've been reading the series how do you feel Gwen has been written thus far? I personally think she's come across as quite likeable in this so far but just want to know your opinion. And anyone elses who reads this thread

I didn't get past the first issue. Nothing wrong with alternate Gwens (Earth-TRN576 in this case), but the more they look like the original, the better. Seeing her at Midtown High School was too much of a difference.
Needless to say, I didn't think much of the creative team. That would've made me change my mind.

Fair enough Ozy. I was just wondering since I've only recently started posting again. Personally, I like what Robbie Thompson is doing on the book. No idea how long it's got left though as I've no idea about the sales or anything but I'll enjoy as long as it's here. I'm enjoying it more than ASM at the moment

Spidey 1 65,503 Spidey 2 33,585 Spidey 3 28,161 Spidey 4 24,553 Spidey 5 22,991 Spidey 6 21,794 Spidey 7 20,736 Spidey 8 20,012 Spidey 9 18,348 Spider 10 17,399 As you can see, sales keep going down, so I would venture is safe to say that you'll be able to get the whole set soon. For comparison, you can check ASM sales here. There's a stark difference, which reinforces the idea that it's not likely for Marvel to keep a title featuring Peter, with those figures.

Nah, it's ok. I'm not one of those readers that obsesses over sales Ah well, interesting I suppose, as I've said in my previous post I'll enjoy it as long as it's going (assuming I find the remainder of the issues, however many there is, to be good of course).

(rofl)Turns out today's issue is the last one anyway. Haven't read it yet though so can't give any views as to the quality (or lack of) of the issue yet.

Well, I've read the final issue now. It was as fun as usual. I'm a bit sad that it's gone but I've got Renew Your Vows (for however long that lasts) and that looks promising (at least to me ). Anyways, it means I can try the new She-Hulk series now

The art is good and it's nice to see the old Bugle staff. I'll stick for the first arc, at least.
