I recently read this short-lived series, here's what I thought about it. The premise of meeting another relevant character hurts, artistically speaking. Not unlike the original, earth 616 version, finding a good reason for Spider-Man to join forces (or fight) with another super powered-being, proves to be challenging. Bendis succeeds in several occasions, but I can't think of many recommendable issues: - The Super Special deserves an "A" for effort, because the task there was even more daunting, with so many characters packed in a single comic. Nevertheless, Bendis accomplished a coherent plot, and some of the guest characters even have something interesting to say.
- The Punisher/Darevil team by Sienkiewicz (testimonial appearance by Spider-Man, BTW) was enjoyable, except for the part were we have to sallow yet again the origin story. This was a common trait of this series, where (for some reason) the need to profusely explain every character's origin, was felt.
- The best one, a really good comic (6 out of 10), was the two-part story with Dr. Strange, by McKeever. The origin is told, but the Ultimate version of the character has enough differences that it wasn't a retell.
