Anyone bought the Family Business OGN that came out recently? I thought it was okay, didn't mind Teresa, seems to be a one-off story in it's own ''universe'' type thing. Art was okay, not usually my style with it being a water type style. Nice to see Kingpin as well.
Personally I give it a 6 out of 10.

I'm not sure it is 616 to be honest, it hasn't been referenced or hinted at. When I said that it was in it's own ''universe'' I didn't mean 616. Sorry should've clarified that.

Personally I give it a 6 out of 10. A 6 out of 10 is Top 100 material. Either you rate higher than I do, or you have seen something in this GN, that I haven't. How do you rate the first four issues of the, relaunched, Amazing Spider-Man?

I read great things on the internet. Someone even said it was the best Spidey story of the last few years. I read it online and I did not like it. I found it pretty basic. Great art but that was it.

That is basically my assessment, too. The art was good, the writing was good, the story… not so much. I agree with IGN's Jesse review(*), in the sense that this comics reminds me of Amazing Spider-Man Annual #5. Whether it's a homage or not, I couldn't say, but why would they revive Lee's worst Spider-Man comic ever, is anyone's guess. If they wanted to introduce a sister, they could've done it in a very different way. * By the way, that annual wasn't drawn by John Romita Sr. He was credited as consultant, only.

As for the first four issues of the relaunched Amazing Spider-Man. Do you want an overall rating or individual rating?

If you found them to be of different quality, individual sounds good.

ASM #1 - 4 out of 10 ASM #2 - 5 out of 10 ASM #3 - 5 out of 10 ASM #4 - 7 out of 10 (which you already knew )

Nope, that's very close to how I rate them, so it must be that there's something in this OGN that you particularly value. I wonder what that might be

Well, 6 out of 10 for an OGN isn't that high I don't think. The art I give a 3.5 out of 5 and the writing 2.5 out of 5. I did like the fact that we got Kingpin in the story, hadn't seen him for a bit.

Ok, I see how you got your numbers. Very similar to what I'd give to story and art, respectively. Maybe I'm not so keen on painted art, but the main difference is that, for me, the script is more important when rating a comic as a whole.

The script is more important to me as well so we're in agreement there. As for the painted art style, normally I don't like it that much myself but for whatever reason it worked for me in this OGN.

I was guessing you just added 2.5 + 3.5, to get the final rating of 6. Wasn't that the case?
