Even though this message board is dedicated to Spider-Man, in any of its different flavors, and despite the fact that neither Peter Parker (earth 616) nor Miles Morales, make more than a cameo in the first issue, I think is safe to assume we'll be seeing more of them. With this thinking in mind, I'm opening a thread to discuss about the Limited Series that, supposedly, ends both the Marvel and Ultimate universes.
I say "supposedly", because no matter what they've said, I'm always suspicious about their statements (anyone else remembers how Peter was never, ever, ever going to come back?). I know the tombstone at the end of issue 1 is quite clear, but again, trust is something you earn.
It was a problem, to decide where to host the thread, because both Spideys are likely to appear, so I made a Solomonic decision and placed it in a "neutral" sub-board. "The People" should be about Spider-Man unrelated stuff, and this one isn't (not completely), but there was no place else to go with it.
So, what are your thoughts on it? Do you buy the "Crisis-like" propaganda? Are you, at least, enjoying it? As long as the answer to the second question, is a "yes", we should be gold.

Let's start, with our own Stillanerd’s Take. Fury assured Reed that he was "rebuilding S.H.I.E.L.D." in Avengers #41, I guess six months are enough, when you have "unlimited funds". The Guardians of the Galaxy went to Earth, to warn of the incoming armada, in Avengers #42. As for all things Cyclops, we saw them develop (scarcely?), over the course of Time Runs Out, in the pages of Avengers. I agree on both the colors and Ribic's problems, with faces; although curiously, this last aspect of the pictures bothered me less, than in "The Republic is Burning". Maybe he's improved over time, or maybe it's the fact that colors aren't so good. Before, they enhanced the art to the point, were faces became a real concern. In this first issue, only She-Hulk's face, when unpinning Pod, caught my attention in a bad way. The writing is good, but not as good as Hickman has been. Whereas pace was frantic, in "The Republic is Burning", I'd say he get's stuck with sketchy, here. There's also a couple of "power boosts" I'm not familiar with: - Colossus fastball special being able to reach off-world targets - Nightcrawler teleporting that far away A really good comic, anyway, just not as good as I was expecting it to be.

Get ready, because there's an scene which looks like it should be the cover for a heavy metal album. You'll know it when you see it. Oh goody, a game. Let's see… the panel with the Ultrons? There's no heavier metal, or at least there shouldn't be (if it's indestructible, it must be incredibly dense).

I know there's a band by the name Gwen Stacy. Has anybody taken the name Victor Von Doom yet? If not, your debut album cover awaits!

Issue 4 has been the best one, so far. Not just because the plot starts to progress, but because it does so with the right dose of action, intrigue and emotional involvement.

Issue 5, follows up on the repercussions, from last month's climax. At the same time, we get some explaining, on what happened with The Beyonders (I wonder if that'll be the final word on the matter, from Hickman). It reminds me, of what Moore did with Mr. Mxyzptlk.

Issue 6, the plot thickens. Several factions set their plans in motion, to move against Doom. Some details are revealed, about how it all came to be. It's another waiting moment, before the storm. The Beyonders side of the story, the cornerstone IMO, isn't yet fully explained.

Issue 7, the initial assault on castle Doom, has been something of a lackluster. Victor's reticence from taking part, has no doubt played an important role in this perception.
Ross pays homage to Not Brand Echh (Marvel's short-lived satirical mag), by picturing Forbush Man in the cover. There's also some sort of Ghost Rider parody, I can't identify.

Even if the final issue is extra-sized, I feel they're leaving too much in reserve for it. These last couple of issues, lack a much desired "crescendo" pace,

I'm just waiting for it to finally end now. That's pretty much the feeling here, which is somewhat of a lackluster. From past works from these authors ( Ultimates), I was expecting more.

LOL Marvel have even done a ''recap'' video for us while we wait for issue 9 to come out.

Well, delays and all, it's been nine months for nine issues (three of them being double sized), so that wasn't so hard after all. In fact, I would've liked it better, had they given Ribic a little bit more time, to finish it properly. As it stands, the art on this final issue is sketchy at times (take a look at those buildings, in the Spider-men sequence). The writing could also have been improved, but I don't thing this is a deadline issue.
