* Issue opens with Gwen in a band called the Mary Jane's with Mary Jane as the lead singer. Gwen is the drummer.
* We quickly get a flashback to how Gwen got her powers, how Peter Parker created a syrum because he was bullied and turned himself into the Lizard. He dies. J.J. blames Spider-Woman for his death in the name of Peter B Parker.
* We learn Gwen hasn't picked a major yet who is now in college, because she loves music and just wants to play. Her dad, a detective, wants her to stop with the band and get on with her life.
* She takes on a cop who is afraid of her and trains his gun on her.
* Matt Murdoch is kingpin's lawyer and pays a big baddy to take out Gwen's dad who just so happens to be at Gwen's concert that night.
* Gwen fights this guy who thinks she wants to dance. He's a real idiot. She takes him out by punching him through a wall.
* Gwen's dad holds her at gun point saying not to move. She takes off her mask to reveal who she is and he lets her go.
Overall I enjoyed the issue a lot. I won't give it a marks out of 10 here since it's on the same day that I read it.
Not wasting any time, the issue opens on Earth 2818, where a cyborg Spider-Man is being chased down by the inter-dimensional spider-slayer. We not only learn this bad guys name, Karn, but that he’s from some place where they collect “spider totems.” Superior Spider-Man continues to show off his arrogance and inability to get over his ego, complete with making the other spider men call him Superior Spider-Man, and his planning.
We get 8, count them 8 spider characters in this issue, which is fun to see. It’s a bit surprising how little humour there is in the issue given how many of them there are, but in its defence many of these characters are dead serious. Due to the number of spider characters and the tone of this story it’s not at all befuddling or weird to see a monkey Spider-Man, which is good. Speaking of tone this series doesn’t feel silly or pointless. The stakes are there, and a key emotional connection between Superior and Anna Maria (who is my favourite part of the whole Superior thing) is still prevalent which makes his getting back to our timeline all the more important.
Two people from Karn's dimension show up, Brix and Bora, who muck up Karn's plan because they want to "run up the score" and kill some Spiders. The spider people flee to 2099 where Superior devices a plan. He also asks his hologram, made to look like Anna Maria, to call him Otto. First time for everything! Superior asks the cyborg Spider-Man to search for anyone named Karn, Birx and Bora in the time streams and get a description.
Prabhakar and Turtleneck are looking for where they're from. Ape and Polymelian will do the same. Superior then pulls aside the two killers in the group (Assassin Spider-Man and Spider-Girl aka Ashley Barton) telling them they may need to commit genocide to win. They are prepared to do so.
Any how, thoughts?
Personally speaking, it wasn't too bad considering that it was Otto Spider. But he's just so annoying to read as Spider-Man lol. Wish it was Peter leading them but since Slott seems to have a crush on Octavius it'll probably be him for the majority of the event and Peter will probably look lame in comparison.
Rant over lol, sorry about that. But I think I was always going to have a little rant with this issue, damn tie-ins!
Overall I gave the art 3.4 out of 5 and the story about a 3.3 out of 5 so 6.7 out of 10. (I know I didn't give a score of Edge of Spider-Verse 2 because of the whole same day thing but the truth is I enjoyed that a LOT so I want to calm down first before giving a more ''objective'' view of it lol. Whereas this I know it's not going to get any higher or lower than what I gave it lol.
Oh and this issue was written by Christos Gage which probably explains the relatively high score I gave it.

Not much time for funnies, in this action-packed issue. (Although I do find funny, that the one who inflicted more pain on the "Morlun Family", was Spider-Monkey). I like the device they've devised, to have some sort of Anna Maria in the story. I disliked the irruption of Karn's brothers, they looked like they came right out of a Manga.
The back-up story. While I appreciate the effort in differentiating Karn from Morlun, they give too much detail into his background. One of the nice things about Morlun, was that he was originally shrouded in mystery.
I thought it was more enjoyable than Amazing Spider-Man 6 personally. The art was a lot more tight and the darker tone of the book was matched by darker panels which I think suits the book.
Anyway I thought it was nice to see the difference in Mysterio and Black Cat in this compared with 616 Universe.
I won't spoil the story but I gave the art work 4 out of 5 and the story 4.2 out of 5 so overall 8.2 out of 10. Nice solid read with absolutely no dumbness that was ASM 6
I'm sure I'm being 'generous' with the score here but since this is the first time I've read Noir in such a long time I think it was more of a ''nice change'' type of feel. If I was reading this on a regular basis it'd probably be no more than 7.5 at best.
So anyone read it? Do you agree or disagree with my thoughts on it or don't you care ?
Anyways I thought it was a nice start to this whole 'Edge of Spider-Verse' thing and I'm looking forward to seeing the Gwen Stacy one (which I believe is out next week?).
I'll stop rambling now
I must admit this one surprised me. An actually good comic for a change, and I mean "good", like 6/10.
As you say, it's solid in every department: art, dialogues, plot, pace… The characters are different enough, to their earth-616 counterparts, so they have their own charm, yet remain close enough to be relatable. The details, as always, are what make it good. MJ's past history, Felicia's scarred face, the fish in the tank, Mysterio planning to kill Spider-Man (and get paid by his audience at the same time) and Karn's guest-starring confused as part of the show.
Wouldn't mind a LS from this guys at all.

We couldn't be father apart on this one, dude. It felt like watching a cartoon out of synch. 3/10 and this Latour guy makes it into my black list, 'nuff said!

The most relevant thing about this comic is the fact that it can be viewed as a clear representative of "hypercompressed" storytelling. I'm going to declare myself as an advocate of decompressed storytelling, so this isn't clearly a plus from my perspective. I get it that people want more story in 20 pages than what manga can provide, I'm okay with that, but this is too much. The plot isn't bad, it's certainly original, but there's just not enough space to flesh it out in a single comic. I'd say it was original, but the characters suffered from being superficial, probably because of the compression. The overabundance of coincidences wasn't a plus, either.
As for the art, it was ok. The buildings and the look of the costume/suit was cool, the faces not so much. I really loved the eyes in the back of Spider-Man's head.

Edge of Spider-Verse #4, who doesn't like a good horror comic?
This issue is clearly the biggest spin in the Spider-Man mythos so far. They even changed the name of the characters involved, I guess because Marvel didn't want them associated with the "real" ones. The only thing that spoils the fun is Morlun's fight sequence, I would've cut that scene, right at the moment he appears at the door. The art was a little weak, compared to the script, but overall, it's an enjoyable tale.
Can't comment on the issue as I haven't been able to get it yet due to some financial stuff lol. But I'll be able to get it this week.
Wedding related? Not the cheapest party one can throw around
Partly yes, but a car also crashed into my fence as well after some idiot was speeding down our road and ended up having to swerve to avoid hitting a car that was performing a u-turn, it's going to cost me a fair few bob to get it sorted. Luckily enough no-one was hurt, though my car (which was parked in our driveway at the time was so damaged that it can't be used now) and Leanne (my fiancé) was still on the telephone, so if she hadn't been on the telephone.... well luckily enough she was.
As you can imagine there was a lot of hassle over it.
We're planning on getting married next year, probably around October-November time. Then again you know what plans are like LOL.
Managed to get issues 3 and 4 of this. Thought they were alright, I give issue 3 a 6 out of 10 - 3 for each story and art personally. And I give issue 4 a 6.3 out of 10 with a 3.5 out of 5 for art and 2.8 for story personally. As I say I thought they were okay but didn't blow me away either.

Issue 3, overall rating 4/10. Issue 4, 5.4/10 (in my case, is the art that lowers the score by 0.1).
PS: which one is correct? "Is the art" or "it's the art"?
I was like Quicksilver, compared to you. Less than three months, from the moment we met to the wedding.
Well I'm a real Sloth compared to you
Leanne and I met in 2000, June 11th to be precise. We were only friends until August 2010 when we finally got our act together and got together . So compared to that our wedding will come quite quickly I think
